Transform your everyday experience with a skilled NDIS exercise physiologist

Movement that works for you, boosts endurance and gives you greater freedom is our speciality

Want to gain the benefits of exercise but don’t know where to start?

Improving your physical abilities can be a game changer, from being able to comfortably stand up from a chair or tie your shoelaces easily to making it through a day of work or a fun outing with your friends.

But, figuring out the best way to exercise and move your body can be challenging. If you do too little, you won’t get the benefits. If you do too much, it may not be helpful, and for some people with disability or chronic health conditions, it could even be harmful.

That’s where we come in. Our specialised NDIS exercise physiologist service finds exercise that’s the right fit for you.

By combining our knowledge of how the human body responds to physical activity with your unique needs and goals, we work with you to create a customised exercise program.

At Exercise Therapies, we’re committed to helping clients achieve their full potential, and Tarsha’s journey is a powerful example of this dedication. Despite having cerebral palsy (CP), Tarsha started with 5K runs and, with Charlie’s guidance, has progressed to completing a 10K race and a 21K run. Her next goal is a full marathon. Through a tailored approach that builds strength and fitness, Tarsha has maintained excellent health and rarely falls ill, a testament to the effectiveness of consistent exercise. Her story shows that with the right support and determination, even the most ambitious goals are attainable.

At Exercise Therapies, we are dedicated to transforming lives through personalised care, as demonstrated by Charlie's inspiring journey. After struggling with persistent pain and mobility issues, Charlie turned to us for a tailored exercise program. This approach led to remarkable improvements—reduced pain, increased strength, and regained freedom to enjoy daily activities without limitations. Charlie’s experience highlights our commitment to addressing each client’s unique needs and providing long-term solutions that empower individuals to take control of their health and achieve a pain-free, active lifestyle.

At Exercise Therapies, we are dedicated to helping clients regain strength and mobility through personalised exercise programs, as seen in Robin’s inspiring journey. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in her 30s, Robin faced severe neck pain and restricted movement, which impacted her active lifestyle. However, after starting a tailored program with us, she experienced significant improvements. Our approach helped relieve her pain, improve her mobility, and restore her confidence in exercising. Robin's story is a testament to the power of personalised care in managing chronic conditions and reclaiming an active, fulfilling life.

Success stories

Here’s how our clients have benefited from working with us:

Thank you for all your hard work. You've greatly helped my son improve his posture and circulation. He always looks forward to his weekly sessions, and I highly recommend you to others.

Idalina, Parent of NDIS Participant

I came in for help with my stomach hernia and was experiencing consistent pain. After following a tailored exercise plan with controlled breathing, I can now carry on with my daily activities without pain. The sessions were very helpful, with detailed explanations, demonstrations, and follow-up support. I highly recommend this service.

Jacalyn, Medicare Care Plan Participant

I came in with a sore shoulder that affected my ability to raise my arm and do gym work. Within a few sessions, my shoulder felt fantastic and back to normal. I highly recommend this service for its accommodating, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable approach.

What is an exercise physiologist?

Exercise physiologists are trained healthcare professionals who can help you get the most benefits out of exercise.

In essence, an exercise physiologist leverages exercise as a medicine or a tool to improve someone’s health, wellbeing, or physical function. Our work ranges from assisting professional athletes to reach peak performance to helping those in the veteran community feel good and function well.

How can exercise physiology help people with disability or those living with chronic health conditions?

When tailored to each person’s unique circumstances, an exercise program can make everyday tasks easier, promote independence, and enhance overall health and well-being.

Whether it’s strength exercises for your upper body to assist with mobility, or flexibility exercises to help maintain independence in everyday tasks, in managing and overcoming challenges for people with disability or those living with chronic conditions.

What NDIS funding categories can be used for exercise physiology?

The primary National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding categories for exercise physiology include:

  1. Capacity Building – Improved Health and Wellbeing
  2. Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living
  3. Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life: Please note that while exercise physiology services are not typically funded under this category, there can be some exceptions if the services are closely linked to a participant’s daily living needs.

To identify the most appropriate funding category to include exercise physiology in your NDIS plan, it’s recommended that you discuss your needs and goals with your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) during your planning meeting.

Do you do report writing for NDIS reviews?

Yes – we provide comprehensive and well-documented reports to support your needs during a NDIS plan review. This includes:

  • Providing evidence and documentation to show that your current needs, progress, and goals have been assessed and reviewed in relation to how they align with NDIS outcomes
  • Providing evidence-based recommendations for exercise interventions that align with your specific needs and objectives
  • Outlining the expected benefits of the recommended interventions, demonstrating their relevance to your NDIS plan
  • Demonstrating the reasonable and necessary nature of exercise physiology services by explaining how the proposed services will lead to improved health, functional capacity, and overall quality of life, as well as increased independence and social participation
  • Highlighting the cost effectiveness of exercise physiology services
  • Working closely and collaboratively with your support team, such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and support coordinators, to a ensure a comprehensive and persuasive report.
Do you offer in-home sessions?

We sure do!

You can enjoy the convenience of personalised exercise programs in the comfort of your home, perfect for those unable to travel.
